Veteran Sergeant Dies After Attack Outside New York Casino

Sgt. Thomas Sanfratello, a 32-year law enforcement veteran, was fatally attacked by two suspects outside Batavia Downs casino.

Sgt. Thomas Sanfratello died following an altercation with Michael Elmore and Lyndsey Jean Wilcox, who were being escorted out of Batavia Downs casino.
Elmore has been charged with first-degree aggravated manslaughter and aggravated assault upon a police officer, while Wilcox faces charges of burglary and attempted assault.
The incident occurred after a disturbance in the casino's bar area, leading to the suspects being asked to leave.
Attempts to revive Sanfratello with CPR were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the incident remains ongoing, with the Batavia Police Department leading the efforts.
