Overview

• The inaugural lineup comprises Alice In Chains’ William DuVall on vocals, Mastodon’s Bill Kelliher on guitar, Anthrax and Pantera’s Charlie Benante on drums and Metal Allegiance’s Mark Menghi on bass.
• King Ultramega released its cover of Soundgarden’s “Rusty Cage” on July 18 as its first official recording.
• Founder Mark Menghi says the project grew out of a pandemic-era recording session that expanded once Soundgarden guitarist Kim Thayil joined.
• Future installments will feature contributions from Kim Thayil, Arch Enemy’s Alissa White-Gluz, guitarist Joe Satriani and drummer Kenny Aronoff.
• Planned covers will span Chris Cornell’s work with Soundgarden, Audioslave and his solo career.
