Veteran Park Ranger Dies After Tragic Fall at Bryce Canyon Festival

Tom Lorig, 78, sustained fatal injuries while assisting visitors during the annual Astronomy Festival

Lorig fell and hit his head on a rock while directing a visitor to a shuttle bus.
Despite immediate first aid from bystanders and EMS, he could not be revived.
He had a long career with the National Park Service, starting in 1968.
Lorig also worked as a registered nurse for 40 years in Seattle.
He served at 14 national parks, including Bryce Canyon, Yosemite, and Zion.
