Veteran Fire Captain Dies in Rafting Tragedy at Dinosaur National Monument

Michael Harp, a 27-year veteran of the Salt Lake City Fire Department, was found unresponsive after being pinned under a raft in the Green River.

Michael Harp, 54, died during a private rafting trip on the Green River in Colorado.
The accident occurred at Hells Half Mile, a challenging class III/IV rapid.
Harp's life jacket was dislodged during the incident, and he was found downstream without it.
His body was discovered by a commercial rafting company 10 miles from the accident site.
Harp was a second-generation firefighter and had served at Ground Zero after 9/11.
