• Stapleton died peacefully in hospital on Sunday morning with his son Nick and daughter-in-law Lisa at his side, according to agent Jackie Gill.
• Days before his death, his son said on BBC’s Morning Live that Stapleton had developed a chest infection, which can be dangerous for people with Parkinson’s.

• Tributes poured in from colleagues including Charlotte Hawkins and Mark Austin, from Parkinson’s UK and from Manchester City, while coverage also noted the 2020 death of his wife and former Watchdog co-host Lynn Faulds Wood.
