Veteran A’s Announcer Fired for On-Air Racial Slur

NBC Sports California fired Glen Kuiper, the play-by-play announcer for the Oakland Athletics, for using a racial slur during a broadcast.
Kuiper used the slur while describing a trip to the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum during a pregame segment on May 5.
Kuiper apologized on air later in the game and in a statement after being suspended.
NBC Sports California ended its relationship with Kuiper following an internal review.
Kuiper had been the A's announcer for 20 years.
