Veteran AIADMK Leader K.A. Sengottaiyan Joins Vijay’s TVK After Resigning as MLA
The nine-time legislator’s switch follows months of friction with the EPS-led AIADMK.
Overview
- Sengottaiyan and former AIADMK MP V Sathyabhama formally joined Tamilzhaga Vetri Kazhagam on November 27 after meeting party president Vijay in Chennai.
- His move came a day after he resigned his Gobichettipalayam Assembly seat on November 26.
- Vijay released a video welcoming Sengottaiyan, praising his 50-year political career and his loyalty to MGR and J Jayalalithaa.
- Sengottaiyan was expelled from the AIADMK in October following a prolonged estrangement with Edappadi K Palaniswami, shortly after he met VK Sasikala, O Panneerselvam, and TTV Dhinakaran.
- In September, he was removed from all AIADMK party posts, and Sathyabhama was also dropped from her women’s wing district role.
