Veteran Actor And Longtime Teacher Lew Palter Dies At 94

Palter was known for his role as Isidor Straus in the 1997 blockbuster Titanic.
He had a career spanning from the late 1960s and appeared in various TV shows and films over the years.
Palter served as an acting and directing teacher at CalArts for over 40 years until his retirement in 2013. His students included Ed Harris, Don Cheadle, and Cecily Strong
Palter worked off-Broadway and was influential in adapting the play "Nuts" into a film starring Barbra Streisand and Richard Dreyfuss.
Palter is survived by his daughter and three grandchildren; his wife, actress Nancy Vawter, died in 2020.
