Vermont State Trooper Heroically Rescues 8-Year-Old Girl from Icy Pond

Bodycam footage reveals the dramatic rescue; the girl has made a full recovery and the rescuers are recommended for the Lifesaving Award.

Vermont State Trooper Michelle Archer heroically rescued an 8-year-old girl who had fallen through the ice into a freezing pond in Cambridge, Vermont.
The incident occurred on December 17, but the bodycam footage was only released recently.
Archer responded to the emergency call within five minutes, using a rope and flotation device from her cruiser to save the child.
Despite initially life-threatening injuries, the girl made a full recovery at the University of Vermont Medical Center and has since returned home.
Archer, fellow trooper Keith Cote, and the 80-year-old homeowner who assisted in the rescue have all been recommended for the Vermont State Police's Lifesaving Award.
