Vermont Man Charged with Aggravated Murder of Elderly Neighbor

Darren Martell, 23, faces life in prison if convicted of killing 82-year-old Roberta Martin, whose remains were found near her Enosburgh home.

Roberta Martin was reported missing on July 17 after her daughter asked neighbors to check on her.
Authorities discovered signs of a break-in at Martin's home and later found her remains in a nearby wooded area.
Darren Martell was already in custody on unrelated charges when he was charged with Martin's murder.
Martell allegedly broke into Martin's home and sexually assaulted her before killing her, according to police.
Martell appeared in court and pleaded not guilty to the aggravated murder charge.
