• Many phones displayed SOS or No Service, and Apple notes SOS mode still allows emergency calls by connecting to other networks.
• Verizon says engineers are working on fixes and advised device restarts and Wi‑Fi calling, with users in some locations reporting partial recovery.
• The FCC said it is monitoring the outage, and one outlet reported Verizon also cited a fiber cut alongside the software problem.
