Overview
- SICT reported on Monday that the Distribuidor Vial de Acceso al Puerto de Veracruz has reached 80 percent completion after a construction program that began in July 2025.
- The project is a two-kilometre elevated roadway with two bodies and two lanes per direction designed to speed access to the Port of Veracruz and lower congestion for about 780,441 local residents.
- Authorities say key milestones are complete: workers have mounted all 264 beams and poured the slabs, while remaining work includes building a mechanically stabilized wall, laying asphalt on the second carriageway, and other complementary tasks.
- The scheme carries an 820 million peso investment and generated roughly 2,460 construction jobs, with officials forecasting travel-time cuts of up to 25 minutes for motorists and freight.
- If the present pace continues, SICT aims to open the distributor to vehicular circulation in August, a development that could boost port logistics and regional connectivity for Veracruz, Boca del Río, Medellín de Bravo and Jamapa.
