Veolia Towers Hamburg Confirm Signing of Martin Breunig From SLUC Nancy

The move takes effect after Nancy’s 1 November game, reflecting a push to arrest Hamburg’s winless start.

Overview

  • Both clubs announced on 17 October that Breunig will join Hamburg following SLUC Nancy’s match against SIG Strasbourg on 1 November.
  • Towers coach Benka Barloschky said the club targeted experience, physicality and depth on the big positions, which Breunig provides.
  • Hamburg have opened the BBL season 0–4 and sit bottom of the table.
  • Breunig, 33 and 2.03 meters tall, won the German Cup last season with Mitteldeutscher BC and previously played in the BBL for Ludwigsburg, Bonn and Oldenburg.
  • His stint at Nancy lasted only a few weeks, and his Hamburg debut is expected on 7 November against Braunschweig.
