Venus Williams, 44, Receives Wild Card for Indian Wells Return

The seven-time Grand Slam champion will compete in her first tournament in nearly a year, marking her 10th appearance at the iconic event.

Venus Williams has been granted a wild card for the 2025 BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells, set to take place from March 5-16.
This marks Williams' first competitive match since her first-round loss at the Miami Open in March 2024 and her 10th career appearance at Indian Wells.
Williams, currently ranked No. 974, has been a three-time semifinalist at Indian Wells but has not advanced past the first round in her last three appearances at the event.
The Williams sisters boycotted Indian Wells for 15 years after a 2001 incident involving racial abuse from the crowd, with Venus returning to the tournament in 2016.
Other wild card recipients include Petra Kvitova, returning from a 15-month maternity leave, and teenage stars Joao Fonseca and Learner Tien.
