The FDA labeled the voluntary action Class II after an ingredient supplier flagged black plastic in granulated onion.

Overview

  • The recall covers eight food-service dressings, including Costco Service Deli and Food Court Caesar dressings and a one-gallon Hidden Valley Buttermilk Ranch SKU.
  • Products were shipped to seven retail customers across 42 locations in 27 states, and one customer in Costa Rica also received product.
  • Costco notified members on Nov. 7 to stop eating Item #19927 Caesar Salad and Item #11444 Chicken Sandwich with Caesar Salad with sell-by dates from Oct. 17 to Nov. 9, 2025, and to return them for refunds.
  • Ventura Foods says it initiated a sub-recall on Nov. 6 after a supplier recalled a lot of onion granules, and it removed potentially affected product from distribution.
  • No illnesses or hospitalizations have been reported, and consumers are advised to stop using affected service-size items and return them to the place of purchase.
