• Alberto Barbera unveiled the festival’s Official Selection on July 22 and confirmed it will run from August 27 to September 6 on Venice’s Lido.
• Five directors with Academy Awards—Guillermo del Toro, Yorgos Lanthimos, Kathryn Bigelow, Noah Baumbach and Jim Jarmusch—are competing for the Golden Lion with films such as Frankenstein, Bugonia and Father Mother Sister Brother.
• Paolo Sorrentino’s La grazia has been named the opening film for August 27, marking his return after the 2023 Silver Lion.
• The out-of-competition program includes Julia Roberts presenting Luca Guadagnino’s thriller After the Hunt and Lucrecia Martel’s long-awaited documentary Nuestra Tierra.
• Parallel sections will spotlight diverse voices from Spain and Latin America, including works by Jaume Claret Muxart, Carmen Maura, Javier Espada and Puerto Rican artist Bad Bunny.
