Venice Approves Trial Entry Fee for Day-Trippers to Manage Overtourism

Venice plans to implement a €5 admission fee for day-trippers on select days in 2024 as an experiment to manage tourism.

It will be tested for 30 days on weekends and holidays when visitor numbers surge.
Exemptions include local residents, commuters, students, children under 14 and overnight tourists.
Venice received 19 million day-trippers in 2019, causing congestion and impacting infrastructure.
