Venezuelan Suspect Linked to Tren de Aragua Charged With Attempted Murder of Federal Officer

His detention follows an incident in which he allegedly attacked federal agents in Sarpy County before fleeing to his Bellevue apartment.

  • According to the Department of Justice, the 30-year-old Venezuelan slammed an agent’s head into the pavement and applied a chokehold while resisting arrest.
  • After the altercation, he ran on foot but was tracked down at his apartment and taken into custody without further incident.
  • He was charged on June 19 with one count of attempted murder of a federal officer and one count of assault of a federal officer, carrying a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
