Overview
- Vedanta Aluminium has boosted its renewable energy capacity to 1.03 GW through power delivery agreements, a milestone that could cut more than 6 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually.
- The firm is sourcing 1,335 MW of clean power via a tie-up with Serentica Renewables to serve its aluminium operations in Odisha and Chhattisgarh.
- It remains on course to expand renewables to 2.5 GW by 2030 as part of a broader commitment to reach net zero emissions by 2050.
- The company has introduced India’s first 10-tonne electric forklift and now operates the country’s largest fleet of electric lithium-ion forklifts at its Jharsuguda plant, with a pledge to electrify all light motor vehicles by 2030.
- Initiatives to further reduce carbon output include pilot biodiesel runs in its commercial fleet and scaling up biomass co-firing at Lanjigarh and BALCO facilities.
