VCIOM Poll Finds Strong Trust in Putin, Lower Approval for Government

The phone survey of 1,600 adults, conducted Oct. 20–26, carries a stated margin of error of up to 1%.

VCIOM reports 78.4% of respondents trust Vladimir Putin, while 16.5% express distrust.
Approval of Putin’s performance stands at 74.2%, with 14.6% saying they disapprove.
The Russian government’s work is approved by 46.3% of those surveyed, and 20.8% do not approve.
Trust in Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin is at 58.3%, with 20.5% reporting distrust.
The VCIOM-Sputnik poll used random mobile phone sampling from Oct. 20–26; a separate FOM survey published the same day found 79% positive job ratings and 77% trust for Putin using in-person interviews with a 3.6% margin of error.
