Overview
- Police carried out Operação A Tropa with roughly 100 officers to serve temporary-arrest and search warrants across Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro, Goiás and the Federal District as part of an inquiry into an alleged interstate criminal organization.
- Officers executed a search at David Corrêa’s Barra da Tijuca apartment and seized his cellphone, computers and documents because investigators were seeking conversations between him and one of the operation’s targets.
- David told investigators he knows people in Espírito Santo named in the probe but denied any participation in drug trafficking, arms trafficking or organized-crime activity.
- Vasco provided legal and emotional support, the club’s lawyers and the player’s agent publicly rejected any implication of wrongdoing, and the player was allowed to resume training.
- Forensic analysis of the seized devices is ongoing, no charges have been reported against David so far, and investigators continue follow-up measures while several arrests in the wider operation have already been made.
