Overview
- NHSRCL confirmed in mid-July 2026 that Vapi station has finished core structural works and is now undergoing rail and platform slab casting, structural steel erection, roof sheeting and electrical fit-out.
- The elevated Vapi station in Dungra village will cover about 28,917 square metres, rise roughly 22 metres and include passenger facilities such as a business-class lounge and direct connections to nearby railway and bus hubs.
- Across the 508 km Mumbai–Ahmedabad corridor, NHSRCL reports substantial civil progress, including 352 km of viaducts, 446 km of piers and 193 route km of reinforced concrete track bed completed.
- Heavy monsoon rains washed away a temporary construction access over the Ulhas River in Thane, but NHSRCL said the structure was not part of the permanent bridge, caused no injuries, and did not affect bridge design or safety.
- The project remains funded mainly by JICA with government equity, earlier land-acquisition delays have been resolved for civil contracts, and officials say any replacement of temporary access will be done without changing the planned delivery timeline.
