Vape Shop Manager Charged in Deadly Shooting During Alleged Robbery

Prosecutor warns would-be robbers to expect to be shot, while charging shop manager for shooting at fleeing suspects.

  • Tony Thacker, the manager of a vape shop in Delhi Township, Ohio, has been charged with felonious assault, tampering with evidence and illegal possession of a firearm, following a deadly shooting during an alleged robbery attempt.
  • Thacker allegedly shot and killed 16-year-old Travis Johnson and injured 19-year-old Amontae Carter, who were part of a group attempting to rob the store.
  • Thacker and his brother, Malachi, are also accused of trying to disable the store's surveillance system and clean up shell casings after the incident.
  • Hamilton County Prosecutor Melissa Powers, while charging Thacker, stated that there is no justification for shooting at someone as they are running away, but added that those who attempt to rob a store should expect to be shot.
  • Three other suspects, aged 15, 16, and 17, along with Carter, have been charged with multiple offenses, including burglary and murder, despite not having fired any shots during the incident.
