Vanderbilt’s Diego Pavia Accepts Senior Bowl Invite, Adds SEC Offensive Player of the Year

The Heisman finalist capped a 10-2 season by earning SEC Offensive Player of the Year.

Overview

  • Panini Senior Bowl officials said Pavia accepted an invitation for the Jan. 31 game in Mobile, a showcase that analysts note could help a prospect whose projections currently hover around No. 96 overall and the third round due to size and age concerns offset by accuracy and mobility.
  • Vanderbilt confirmed Pavia will close his Commodores career against Iowa in the ReliaQuest Bowl on Dec. 31.
  • He won SEC Offensive Player of the Year from the league’s coaches and from the Associated Press, and he was PFF’s SEC Offensive Player of the Year and a first-team All-SEC selection.
  • Pavia’s regular season produced 3,192 passing yards with 27 touchdowns on 71.2% completions, plus 826 rushing yards and nine scores for 4,018 total yards.
  • His play led Vanderbilt to its first 10-win regular season with six SEC victories, four wins over ranked opponents and the school’s highest AP ranking since 1937, as media also reported his NIL valuation near $2.5 million following a $97,000 On3-model increase.
