Vande Bharat Sleeper Train Reaches 180 km/h in Successful Trials

Indian Railways' new sleeper train undergoes high-speed testing with modern features and aims to redefine long-distance travel.

The Vande Bharat sleeper train achieved a peak speed of 180 km/h during trials conducted in Rajasthan's Kota Division by the Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO).
A video shared by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw showcased the train's stability, with a glass of water remaining static during high-speed runs.
The trials, which include testing under full passenger and luggage load conditions, will continue through January before evaluation by the Railway Safety Commissioner for certification.
The sleeper train features automatic doors, ultra-comfortable berths, onboard WiFi, and an aircraft-like design, enhancing comfort for long-distance routes such as Delhi to Mumbai and Kashmir to Kanyakumari.
