Vande Bharat Sleeper Rake Hits 180 Kmph in Kota Long Confirmatory Run

RDSO’s trial program running through November 17 seeks to certify the 16-coach BEML-built sleeper for semi-high-speed service.

Overview

  • The second rake completed a 50 km Long Confirmatory Run between Rohalkhurd and Laban at sustained top speed.
  • High-speed validation on the Sawai MadhopurKota–Nagda section is being conducted by RDSO’s Test Directorate in the West Central Railway zone.
  • Engineers are evaluating braking performance, stability, vibration, and mechanical and electrical reliability at up to 180 kmph.
  • Trials include oscillation checks and emergency braking on wet track to verify safety at speed.
  • Loaded-operation runs simulate full occupancy with 108 tons of added ballast, bringing the train to a 908-ton operating weight.
