Vande Bharat Sleeper Launching Next Week on HowrahGuwahati Route With Confirmed-Only Tickets and Higher Fares

Operations will run at up to 130 km/h despite 180 km/h capability.

Overview

  • Railway Board has set per‑kilometre pricing with a 400‑km minimum: ₹2.4/km for 3AC, ₹3.1/km for 2AC and ₹3.8/km for First AC, producing minimum fares of ₹960, ₹1,240 and ₹1,520 before GST.
  • For the roughly 1,000‑km Howrah–Guwahati journey, fares are ₹2,400 (3AC), ₹3,100 (2AC) and ₹3,800 (First AC), with travel time expected to fall by about three hours.
  • Ticketing will be digital only with no RAC, waitlist or partial confirmations, and all berths will be available from the start of the advance reservation period.
  • The 16‑coach formation includes 11 3AC, four 2AC and one First AC coach, with features such as the Kavach protection system, automatic doors, improved suspension and quieter coaches.
  • Standard quotas for women, senior citizens, persons with disabilities and duty‑pass holders will continue, with Rajdhani‑parity eligibility for passes and no concessional or complimentary non‑reimbursable travel.
