Vande Bharat Sleeper Enters COCR Trials on MumbaiAhmedabad Route

RDSO oscillation checks at 130 km/h will validate ride quality to inform Railway Board approvals.

Overview

  • A second 16‑coach sleeper rake completed an Ahmedabad–Mumbai run on November 14, covering the route in about four hours with a peak operational speed of 130 km/h.
  • Confirmatory Oscillograph Car Run trials are scheduled across November 15–16 on the Ahmedabad–VadodaraMumbai Central corridor with instrumented monitoring by an RDSO coach.
  • Western Railway coordinated multi‑department participation for the trials, including Operations, Mechanical, Engineering, Electrical, S&T and Security teams.
  • The rake under test uses specially modified bogies and was built by BEML using Integral Coach Factory technology, with a layout of 11 AC 3‑tier, four AC 2‑tier and one First AC coach.
  • Earlier prototype runs touched around 180–181 km/h under test conditions, while route deployment will be decided after certification, with public introduction projected around mid‑2026.
