Vandals Deface Rep. Mike Kelly’s New Hermitage District Office

Authorities have launched an investigation after red-painted slogans on the office’s windows criticized GOP policies.

Overview

  • Overnight July 25–26, vandals used red paint to scrawl phrases such as “GOP = racism, rape, child rape, cover up” and “Mental illness is not a crime” on the glass front of the new Hermitage office.
  • Staff discovered the damage on Saturday morning and confirmed that no one was in the office during the incident and all team members are safe.
  • Mercer County law enforcement and U.S. Capitol Police have opened a joint inquiry and are reviewing security footage and photographs, but no suspects have been publicly identified.
  • The Hermitage office opened last month after moving from Sharon to improve constituent outreach across Pennsylvania’s 16th Congressional District.
  • Rep. Kelly condemned the act as unacceptable political violence and pledged to maintain heightened security measures for his district staff.
