Vancouver to Relocate Lapu Lapu Day Memorial to Mountain View Cemetery

City staff will carry out the move next week following family consultations to safeguard personal tributes ahead of plans for a permanent memorial.

Overview

  • Items at the roadside memorial near East 43rd Avenue and Fraser Street will be transferred to Mountain View Cemetery next Wednesday morning.
  • Consultations led by Vancouver Police Department Victim Services guided the consolidation decision and will inform any permanent commemorative design.
  • Community members may retrieve or move their personal items themselves before the scheduled relocation.
  • Wilted flowers, candles and other nontransportable items will be respectfully composted or recycled by city crews.
  • Adam Kai-Ji Lo remains charged with 11 counts of second-degree murder and is undergoing forensic psychiatric evaluations for fitness to stand trial.
