Overview

• The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority reported a record 85 million metric tonnes moved in the first half of 2025, up 13% from a year earlier.
• Crude oil exports were nearly five times higher than in the first half of 2024 after the Trans Mountain expansion entered service, with planning underway to dredge Burrard Inlet so tankers can depart more fully loaded from Westridge Terminal.
• About 60% of the crude shipped through the port in the period went to China.
• Canola oil exports rose 72% to 700,000 metric tonnes as shipments expanded to markets beyond China and the United States.
• Container volumes increased 6% year over year, while cruise ship passenger visits declined 9% after a record 2024.
