Overview

  • Mathieu van der Poel outsprinted defending champion Tadej Pogacar in a photo finish to win the 209.1 km stage two from Lauwin-Planque to Boulogne-sur-Mer.
  • He seized the yellow jersey from teammate Jasper Philipsen and now leads the general classification by four seconds over Pogacar, with Jonas Vingegaard two seconds further back.
  • Around 30 riders broke away in the final two kilometres, setting up the decisive sprint at the end of the longest stage so far.
  • Team Cofidis is investigating the overnight theft of 11 Look Cycle bikes from its workshop truck before the start of stage two.
