Valve Unveils Steam Machine, Steam Frame Headset and New Steam Controller for Early 2026

Valve frames the lineup as an open SteamOS ecosystem built to work together.

Overview

  • The compact Steam Machine runs SteamOS on a semi‑custom AMD Zen 4 6C/12T CPU with a semi‑custom RDNA3 GPU, 16GB DDR5 plus 8GB GDDR6 VRAM, and comes in 512GB and 2TB models with microSD expansion.
  • Valve claims the Steam Machine delivers over six times Steam Deck performance and targets 4K at 60fps using AMD FSR, with ray tracing support and a built‑in PSU in a roughly six‑inch cube chassis.
  • Steam Frame is a streaming‑first standalone VR headset running SteamOS on a Snapdragon 8‑series processor with 16GB RAM, 2160×2160 LCD per eye, eye‑tracking for foveated streaming, and an included low‑latency 6GHz wireless adapter.
  • The new Steam Controller features next‑generation magnetic thumbsticks, dual trackpads, gyro and rear grip buttons, up to 35 hours per charge, and broad compatibility with PC, Steam Deck, Steam Machine and Steam Frame via a wireless puck.
  • All three products are available to wishlist now and are slated to ship in early 2026 to regions including the US, Canada, UK, EU and Australia, with Komodo distributing in Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan; Valve did not announce a Steam Deck successor.
