Overview
- In late May Valve relisted both Steam Deck OLED models and raised European retail prices to €780 for the 512 GB model and €920 for the 1 TB model.
- Listed U.S. prices rose by larger nominal amounts, moving the 512 GB unit from $550 to $790 and the 1 TB unit from $650 to $950 before tax.
- Valve said the devices themselves have not changed and blamed the hikes on higher costs for storage chips, increased warehousing fees and strained global logistics.
- The company is offering refurbished 1 TB units at lower prices as an alternative for buyers who do not want to pay the new retail rates.
- The move follows recent price lifts from other console makers and could make it harder to predict affordable pricing for Valve’s unpriced upcoming products such as the Steam Machine and Steam Frame.
