Overview

  • Surface lanes on Calle Alicante and Castellón will reopen to traffic on October 9 after three years of disruptive works.
  • Excavation of the 250-meter tunnel beneath Calle Alicante is complete and crews are fitting cladding, escalators, ramps and elevators.
  • Metro users will gain pedestrian access to the underground corridor by the end of 2025, avoiding the need to exit to street level.
  • The tunnel is engineered for future conversion into a tram platform for Line 10, enabling direct service through the new passage.
  • The €24 million project is co-financed with European Union funds and forms part of Metrovalencia’s 2023–30 network expansion plan.
