València Sud Station Elevated as Metrovalencia Advances Flood-Damaged Line Restorations

Overview

  • València Sud station is being rebuilt on a one-meter-high base to shield the new vestibule from future floods.
  • Renovations include three elevators, ramps and a step-free pedestrian tunnel linking extended platforms to a 506-space parking area with 14 accessible spots.
  • The new Barranc del Poyo bridge between Paiporta and Picanya has passed its load test, marking a major safety milestone.
  • Ten kilometers of new track have been installed and electrification tests are underway on the València Sud–Torrent section.
  • The Metrovalencia control center will relocate to the first floor and full service restoration for the l’Horta and la Ribera lines is slated for June 21 pending final safety checks.
