Valley Meats Recalls Over 6,700 Pounds of Ground Beef Due to E. Coli Concerns

The Illinois-based company issued the recall after samples tested positive for E. coli O157:H7, a potentially deadly bacterium.

Valley Meats, LLC, an Illinois-based food manufacturer, has recalled approximately 6,768 pounds of raw ground beef products due to concerns of E. coli O157:H7 contamination.
The recalled products were produced on December 22, 2023, and were marked with the USDA label “EST. 5712”.
The products were shipped to distributors in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, and Michigan for further distribution to restaurants and other food institutions.
No confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products have been reported yet.
E. coli O157:H7 is a potentially deadly bacterium that can cause severe illness, including a type of kidney failure called hemolytic uremic syndrome, especially in young children and the elderly.
