Valley Meats Recalls Over 6,700 Pounds of Ground Beef Due to E. Coli Concerns
The Illinois-based company issued the recall after samples tested positive for E. coli O157:H7, a potentially deadly bacterium.
- Valley Meats, LLC, an Illinois-based food manufacturer, has recalled approximately 6,768 pounds of raw ground beef products due to concerns of E. coli O157:H7 contamination.
- The recalled products were produced on December 22, 2023, and were marked with the USDA label “EST. 5712”.
- The products were shipped to distributors in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, and Michigan for further distribution to restaurants and other food institutions.
- No confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products have been reported yet.
- E. coli O157:H7 is a potentially deadly bacterium that can cause severe illness, including a type of kidney failure called hemolytic uremic syndrome, especially in young children and the elderly.
