• The wildfire ignited around 1:30 p.m. off Sweet Valley Road in the Rescue area, sending up a large column of smoke.
• Cal Fire’s Amador–El Dorado Unit updated the size to 35 acres with 0% containment as of about 2:40 p.m.
• Mandatory evacuations were issued for areas around Sweet Valley Road and nearby roads including Sands, Rough Ridge and Kanaka Valley.
• A temporary evacuation point is open at the Placerville Library at 345 Fair Lane for residents directed to leave.
