Valkyries Clinch Playoffs in Inaugural Season as First Home Game Moves to San Jose

With Chase Center booked for the Laver Cup, Golden State will host its first-round Game 2 at SAP Center.

Overview

  • Golden State sealed a postseason berth with an 84-80 comeback over the Dallas Wings on Sept. 4, capped by Veronica Burton’s late and-one after key fourth-quarter plays from Janelle Salaün and Carla Leite.
  • The team announced its first-ever home playoff game will be relocated to SAP Center in San Jose because Chase Center is reserved for the Laver Cup, a booking made in 2023 before the franchise existed.
  • Oakland Arena was evaluated but unavailable due to a property-wide private event, leading the Valkyries to select San Jose as the best viable option.
  • Under the WNBA’s 1-1-1 first-round format, Game 1 is on the road Sept. 14, Game 2 is set for Sept. 16 or 17 at SAP Center, and a potential Game 3 would be away.
  • The Valkyries have sold out every home game and lead the league in attendance, and they currently sit in the middle seeds with three regular-season games remaining and final seeding still in flux.
