Overview

  • Carlos Mazón confirmed on June 2 that he will hold discussions with the Asociación de Damnificados por la Dana Horta Sud-València in one of the towns battered by the October flood.
  • The Horta Sud-València group became the first of three major associations to accept Mazón’s invitation after insisting the meeting take place on the flood’s ground zero and that they secure spots in the parliamentary inquiry commission.
  • Victim representatives will now be allowed to testify before the Corts Valencianes’ Dana flood investigation after initially being omitted from the approved roster of 84 witnesses.
  • Mazón made an unannounced visit to the Catarroja-Massanassa bridge reconstruction site yesterday, marking one of his first forays into the urban core of the worst-hit area.
  • In recent weeks, the main victim associations have met with European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen, European Parliament president Roberta Metsola and Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez to press for accountability and support.
