Valencian Judge Re-Summons Mazón Aide as Union Seeks Recovery of Dana-Day WhatsApps

The filing asks the court to compel a search of the replaced corporate phone to enable forensic comparison of the disputed messages.

Overview

  • FETAP-CGT, acting as a popular prosecution, formally asked the investigating judge to recover José Manuel Cuenca’s WhatsApp messages from October 29, 2024.
  • The request urges the Generalitat’s IT unit to locate Cuenca’s replaced device, check MDM/EMM records, backups and logs, and submit any device or extracted data for judicial comparison.
  • Cuenca previously testified that he changed to a new corporate phone in July 2025, left the old handset at the Generalitat, and had no objection to showing his messages.
  • The judge re-cited Cuenca after ex-consellera Salomé Pradas delivered a notarial record with selected WhatsApp exchanges from key hours on the day of the storm.
  • The messages submitted by Pradas report Cuenca telling her “Salo, de confinar nada, por favor,” suggesting influence on the 20:11 Es Alert, and note awareness of a first death at 16:28 along with “Igual a las 19 horas vamos al 112.”
