Valencian Health Department Halts Afternoon Clinic Rollout, Keeps Saturday Hours

The department is tying any service-hour changes to measured results from new productivity agreements.

Overview

  • Conselleria de Sanidad confirmed it will not launch ordinary afternoon consultations in October and will maintain the current Saturday schedule.
  • The pause coincides with the activation of a complementary productivity model for the second half of 2025 that applies to statutory staff in primary care and in acute and chronic hospitals.
  • Officials said any application of the productivity complement in ordinary hours will be decided using objective, measurable indicators available through the department’s corporate systems.
  • The model will be evaluated at the end of the semester to determine its impact on care, efficiency and goal attainment, with possible integration into the existing model if results are favorable.
  • Decree law 12/2025, validated on 1 September, authorizes complementary management agreements with independent funding, and unions CCOO and UGT called the pause a logical step after criticizing the original plan’s lack of consultation.
