Valencian Government Publishes Sorolla Deal With Hispanic Society, Setting 221-Work Loan and €1.15 Million Fee

The official text sets the loan size, fee, governance structure plus the commercial setup for a Sorolla space planned as HiSA’s first European base.

Overview

  • The framework in the DOGV confirms the venue at Valencia’s Palacio de las Comunicaciones under the title Generalitat Valenciana–Hispanic Society of America–Colección Sorolla.
  • HiSA will lend at least 221 works, with selections to be validated by Blanca Pons-Sorolla alongside a Generalitat-appointed specialist, and the Visión de España panels remain excluded.
  • The Generalitat will pay €1.15 million in the first year for the loan and naming rights, with annual indexation, and the adaptation of the building is estimated at about €15 million.
  • A new foundation led by the Generalitat will manage the center with HiSA representation on the board, and ticket revenues will be routed to the foundation.
  • HiSA proposes an external operator—reported as either Light Art Exhibitions or Live Arts Exhibitions—to run daily operations plus a Café Huntington and a shop, whose net income is split between the operator and HiSA.
