Overview

• Mayor María José Catalá presented a 1.3‑kilometre cycle‑pedestrian route from Penya‑roja to the Astilleros bridge in Natzaret along the old riverbed.
• The path will be 3 to 6 metres wide, with the city planning to tender the works in January or February 2026 and target completion in 2027.
• A 54‑metre metal footbridge, designed using a dedicated hydraulic study, maintains channel capacity and enhances safety during storm surges.
• The itinerary separates walkers and cyclists and includes rest areas every 50 metres, solar lighting with presence sensors, trees, bins, bike parking and CCTV.
• The project is co‑financed by the Generalitat Valenciana and sits within the wider PAI del Grau plan culminating in the Parque de Desembocadura, while the mayor presses Madrid to authorize the Serrería rail burial.
