Overview
- The municipality has reopened the Giorgeta–Pérez Galdós section between Cuenca and San Vicente Mártir to traffic as a partial step toward restoring flow along the whole corridor.
- The city plans to restore traffic across the full 2.2-kilometre, 97,000 m² stretch in September to coincide with the return to schools while finishing work continues.
- Planting and other final interventions were deferred during the summer on specialist advice to protect young trees, and the official completion date has been extended to 16 December 2026.
- The €24 million reurbanization, cofunded by European Next Generation funds and built by a UTE led by Pavasal and Grupo Bertolín, renews sewers, lighting and traffic systems and adds a segregated bidirectional bike lane.
- The redesign adds 640 trees, about 6,800 m² of green space, noise-absorbing asphalt and new bus stops, and the city has launched a €300,000 voucher scheme to help businesses affected by the works.
