Valencia Region Sets New Public Transport Fares as Metrovalencia Returns to Full Service

Funded by state aid, the cuts aim to support flood recovery in affected communities with expanded concessions for young passengers

Overview

  • The Generalitat Valenciana approved a decree law on June 25 to slash public transport fares from July 1 through December 31, 2025.
  • Free travel continues for children under 14 and residents of municipalities hit by last October’s floods.
  • Passengers under 31 will lose free rides but receive 50% discounts on monthly passes, priced at €14.90 in Valencia, €10.60 in Alicante and €12.75 in Castellón.
  • All other users will see a 40% cut on multi-trip tickets and season passes, with 10-trip fares set at €5.40 in Valencia, €5.25 in Alicante and €5 in Castellón de la Plana.
  • Metrovalencia will fully reopen on June 27 with free rides through 2025 and 2026, financed by state aid under Royal Decree-Law 1/2025 and backed by potential regional supplements.
