Valencia Port Revokes Baleària’s 2022 Passenger-Terminal Deal, Plans 2026 Rebid After Redesign

New tenders are planned for early 2026 following a full redesign.

Overview

  • The APV board canceled the concession granted in 2022 to Puerto Natura Valencia SL, a Baleària subsidiary, resetting the long-running passenger-terminal project.
  • Valenciaport will replan the passenger platform to reflect changes in traffic, maneuverability needs of larger ships and network connectivity, with tenders targeted for the first quarter of 2026.
  • The redesign covers areas including Turia and Unión Naval de Levante, seeks stronger port–city integration, and will be scheduled to maintain daily operations.
  • Baleària expressed deep disappointment over the reversal and said it must keep working in inadequate facilities, while an MSC proposal also waits on the new process.
  • At the same meeting, APV director general Enrique Belda resigned to return to the Interior Ministry, Aurelio Acedo was appointed as his replacement, and Toyota Logistics Services España won a vehicle-terminal concession at Sagunto’s south quay.
