Valencia City Council Requests La Marina Be Declared Mediterranean Tech Hub

It would convert 74,000 square meters into the 46 Valencia Mediterranean Tech Hub featuring a 95% construction tax discount with expedited permit procedures pending approval by the Generalitat Valenciana.

Overview

  • The council led by Mayor María José Catalá will formally ask the Generalitat Valenciana to classify La Marina as an Urban Technological Enclave.
  • Named the 46 Valencia Mediterranean Tech Hub, the proposal dedicates 74,000 square meters to tech firms, startups, R&D centers and international corporations.
  • Companies locating in the enclave would receive a 95% bonus on ICIO construction tax, expedited permitting and priority access to regional grants.
  • A public-private partnership including the city council, Port Authority of Valencia, Universitat de València, Universitat Politècnica de València and REDIT will oversee development.
  • The council also plans to petition the Spanish government to declare the Valencia Digital Summit an Event of Exceptional Public Interest after its last edition generated €20.3 million in economic impact.
