Overview
- Valencia’s Mobility service has started replacing car spaces beside pedestrian crossings with motorcycle bays to improve drivers’ visibility of people crossing.
- The measure complies with Real Decreto 465/2025, which formalizes a DGT recommendation on traffic signage to protect vulnerable pedestrians.
- In the first September phase, 58 car parking spaces are being converted into 137 motorcycle spaces.
- Work is concentrated on Amado Granell Mesado, Arnau de Vilanova, Doctor Peset Aleixandre, and on Doctor J. J. Dómine, Emili Baró, Federico García Lorca, Roger de Lauria, and Jacinto Benavente.
- Mobility councilor Jesús Carbonell says the program will extend citywide with neighborhood repainting, reorganizing parking to limit car-space losses and free sidewalk space.
