Valencia and Balearic Islands Deploy Nearly 200 Firefighters to Support Castilla y León

Regional deployments support a national preemergency response with frontline roles to be set on arrival.

Overview

  • The Generalitat Valenciana’s 134-person device features 13 fire engines, five water tenders, a drone unit, communications, mechanical and logistics teams alongside AVSRE and BRIFO personnel.
  • The Govern de les Illes Balears will send 50 personnel including firefighters, emergency and telecom technicians, environment agents, medical staff and civil-protection volunteers for a weeklong mission from August 19 to 26.
  • Both contingents respond to a formal request from the Junta de Castilla y León and will integrate into existing firefighting command structures upon reaching the region.
  • The Comunitat Valenciana maintains a level-3 preemergency alert for forest-fire risk and continues operating amphibious aircraft in Galicia and Extremadura.
  • Ground units’ precise assignments in Castilla y León will be determined on-site based on current fire intensity and area needs.
